While we
attempt
to keep our puppies reasonably priced, you will not find a "cheap"
puppy here. All of our dogs receive the highest quality care
. . . food, supplements, grooming and veterinary attention . . . all of
which are very expensive. In order to lower our prices, it
would be necessary to lower the quality of care that they receive . . .
which I am NOT willing to do. There is a very realistic
description of the costs involved in whelping a litter
here.
I did not write the article, and it isn't breed-specific, but I'm sure
most breeders would agree that it just about sums up the
experience! If you don't believe that you can afford one of
our puppies, you might consider asking yourself if you can afford the
quality of care that I expect new owners to provide for my
babies. A puppy that is "cheap" up front may well not be so
cheap down the line! The potential health problems
(translated into huge vet bills) that can occur when puppies are not
bred carefully or provided with the quality of care that they require
to grow strong and healthy can be devastating, both financially and
emotionally. I personally have been on the receiving end of a
"cheap" puppy. Her name was Chloe and you can read about her
here. Whether you decide to purchase a puppy from
us or from someone else, remember that your new puppy's start in life
(with the breeder) will determine that puppy's health and happiness
throughout his or her life. So do your research well and
don't be tempted to base your decision on purchasing a new puppy on
price alone!
All of our Shih Tzu puppies are priced
individually,
according to quality, size and color. We breed mostly from champion
bloodlines for excellent health, disposition, and beauty. All
of our puppies are eligible for AKC registration. However,
most puppies will be sold as companion pets only with
Limited AKC Registration to help
ensure that breeding is practiced only for the betterment of the
breed. Your new puppy will come to you with up-to-date
wormings and vaccinations. We also provide a two-year written
health guarantee against life-threatening genetic defects.
AVID microchipping is available from my veterinarian at my cost of only
$30.00 and I highly recommend it for all pet owners. One
never knows when a "Katrina" will strike! Although our name
is Britteli Kennel, our dogs all live in our home with us . . . not in
a kennel . . . and are a part of our family, so your new baby will be a
bit spoiled to attention and affection.
Our
general pricing guidelines for limited registration are currently as
follows:
|
Parti-color males |
$500 and up |
|
Parti-color females |
$700 and up |
|
Solid color males |
$600 and up |
|
Solid color females |
$800 and up |
Factors that influence the pricing of
individual
puppies within these
groups include color, size, quality of parentage and degree of
conformation to the standard. Unless otherwise noted, all
prices are for limited AKC registration.
Full AKC registration is sometimes available at an additional charge to
approved show/breeding homes. If you are interested in
placing a deposit on one of my available babies or would like to be
notified of upcoming litters, please complete and submit a Puppy
Application.
***I
can no longer consider placing any puppy until I have received a
completed application.***
You should
receive a response within 24 hours.

When I receive
notification of your intention to place a deposit on a
puppy, I will hold the puppy for 5 working days, pending receipt of the
deposit. If placing a deposit on an unborn litter, the
deposit is $250.00 which is non-refundable, unless too few babies are
born, but is transferable for up to one year. The balance of
one half of the purchase price will be due when your puppy is
born. If placing a deposit for a litter that is already on
the ground, a deposit of one half of the purchase price (including any
applicable shipping charges) will hold your new Shih Tzu baby until he
or she is 7 weeks old, at which time payment in full is due unless you
are paying cash and picking your puppy up in person.
Arrangements may be made to hold your puppy beyond the time when he or
she is ready to go home, if necessary. We charge a boarding
fee of $5.00 per day plus any additional expenses incurred such as
veterinary care. Deposits may be made by United States Postal
Service money order or through PayPal (with an additional 3-1/2% fee
for transfers originating in the U.S. or 4-1/2% for transfers
originating outside the U.S.). Subsequent payments may be
made by the same means. ***Personal checks
and cashier's checks are NOT accepted.***
If a payment is not received on time without prior arrangements, all
previous payments will be forfeited and the puppy will be made
available to other buyers. My mailing address or PayPal
account information will be provided to buyers once purchase
arrangements have been made. All payments must be made in
U.S. dollars and drawn on a U.S. bank.
